Eric,
I looked at the Rootsweb guidelines for the list at
http://lists.rootsweb.com/index/other/DNA/CARROLL-DNA.html
"The CARROLL-DNA mailing list is for the discussion and sharing of information
regarding the application of DNA testing to
genealogical research on surname Carroll and its variations."
I think that is well worded as it is, and I assume that is sent as part of the welcome
letter to all who join. If not, then perhaps
you could send it to them. If someone is thinking about whether or not to do the test,
then reading the mail on the list might help
him decide. However, if someone posts a query NOT related to DNA or a family being tested
by DNA, couldn't we all just neglect to
answer that letter? If that didn't work, then maybe you could write a letter
reminding all of us of the guidelines. If that still
didn't work, then you could write to that person individually to remind again of the
guidelines.
If we make the criteria too strict, we might drive away someone who needs the DNA
information, and so far there has been very little
traffic. I guess I am in favor Inclusion rather than Exclusion. This is just my opinion,
and I hope others will express their
views.
I appreciate your willingness to take leadership of the list and will respect whatever you
decide.
Lura

: Folks,
:
: A question has come up regarding membership in this list. I would appreciate your
feedback and thoughts please. This is YOUR
list and I need your opinion.
:
: A list subscriber has stated he has not yet been Y-DNA tested. Should he be allowed to
post his genealogical data here anyway?
Or should he get tested first?
