The first 12 markers have come back for my kin who is a descendant of Alexander Carroll
who married in Sampson County, NC in 1783.
There will be all 37 markers in a few weeks. It is listed as # 32061. As I expected, it
matches perfectly with a descendant of
Jesse Carroll # 30624 and with a descendant of Dempsey Carroll, Jr. # 29146. I believe
Alexander and Dempsey Jr. are brothers, but
we have no proof on paper. The results have been posted on the Carroll page at
FamilyTreeDNA, and Kevin has also posted it on the
site for Carroll DNA where he can post some of the lineage. This newest one is presently
posted as Private, but we will get some
pedigree info there to go with it. It will be Gaston Abram C < Hardy Royal C <
Major Hardy C < Alexander C in Sampson Co, NC.
The contributor of the DNA is 97 years young and still walks a mile every day pushing his
wheeled walker. I'd say those are pretty
good genes.
So far we have identified two family lines in Sampson County, NC. The three above in one
family and # 28445 in the other line.
There were lots of Carrolls who descend from these families in Sampson, so I hope our
results will be helpful to other researchers
in future years.
As soon as the last markers are posted for # 32061, I want to try to find a known
descendant of the early Johnston County, NC
Carrolls and try to encourage them to be tested. I believe our three alike will match
with them. I also want to find a known
descendant of the very early Isle of Wight County, VA family.
Excited,
Lura Southard
