I know several of you DNA donors are researching the CARROLLS from
Orange County, NC. I just ran into an old letter in my files which I
didn't remember. This is what a lady wrote referring to her family
which came from Rockingham County, NC.....
"William Carroll came with several children to McNairy County,
Tennessee in the 1840s. About half of his children went on to Texas
in the late 1800s and about half stayed in McNairy County. I think
Athol Carroll may have been a son or grandson of William's brother,
but I'm not sure. Why William came to McNairy County I don't know. I
do know that two other Carrolls were already in McNairy Co. or came
about the same time. They were Stephen and Clement Carroll--brothers,
I think. They were from Orange Co., NC. They settled in the upper
part of the county and William settled in the lower part."
If you think that notation might be of help to you in some way, send
me your address and I will send it to the author of the letter. Maybe
she will then contact you.
