I don't know if the author of the letter below is still looking
for more information about Earl Clyde Carroll or not, but I
thought I would pass along some information I received today.
You don't see the name Earl often in the Carroll family.
You can see a picture of one Earl Carroll at
http://www.ancientfaces.com:80/research/photo/403965
If you think there is any chance it might be the one you are
trying to find, you can write to the person who contributed the
picture by sending it to him/her through Ancient Faces.
Good Luck,
Lura

| Yes that is correct I am stuck on Earl Clyde Carroll. Earl
Clyde Carroll arrive in Bedford Co., PA in 1931 a few months
later married Mabel Showalter. If that is him on the 1920 census
living in Venango Co., PA with Charles Moon, listed as E. C.
Carroll age 18 born in TN. (I am fairly certain it is him). I
can not find him on the 1910 or 1930 census. I have tracked MANY
that were not him. I have now searched for 27 years for his
family with no luck. The stories of oldtimes that lived in the
area that Mabel and Earl lived all said the same thing: outlaw,
mystery man, you knew better than to ask him questions, from TN,
crazy and mean when he got into the whiskey, bootlegger. I
thought his mothers name on his marriage licenses would be easy
to trace Gretta May Ellsworth. But had no luck there. There was
a Gretta Ellsworth in Ohio but I talked to her daughter and that
is not the correct one. Also there is a Gretta Carrol on the
census in New York City but she only had !
| one daughter. Gretta could be short for so many names. My
hope was DNA would at least put us in the right direction of a
family line. My son's lineage chart is now 18 pages long and 4
pages wide (printed from FTM) and I can't get out of the 1900's
with the sur name he carries.

| As I understand, Earl Clyde Carroll is the earliest one you
know for
| certain, right?
|
| There is a place you could post his picture to make

|
| : We descend from a David Anderson Carroll and Gretta May
Ellsworth.
| We are not sure these names are correct. They had a son Earl
Clyde
| Carroll born 1902-1908 (circa) maybe in TN. Earl Clyde Carroll
died
| young and his family was never notified. I have a photo of
him, if
| anyone is missing a Carroll cousin.
