Well Marc,
This jives with what I read several years ago about that Carroll Manor in
Maryland and its inhabitant. He was either Philip or Anthony Carroll, and
was fighting against land developers who wanted easements through his
property, etc. Don't know of course if he is the same man, but probably
so. It has a ring of truth about it. Thus ends the saga of "The Princes
of Ireland, The Planters of Maryland." It kinda brings a tear to my eye,
even though they were never my Carrolls.
Now someone needs to do a little research starting with the 1930 census for
that address, etc., and work backwards to confirm the Carroll line in
residence there back to say Charles Carroll of Homewood and Harriet Chew,
or their close relatives, or whoever lived there. Then maybe this whole
business of folks believing they are descended from C. C. of C. can be laid
to rest. They aren't...
Now Daniel Carroll, signer of the U. S. Constitution, is a different
matter....
Thanks,
Eric Olson

I see you're still looking for that male descendant. When I was down at
Johns
Hopkins University in Baltimore researching the Carroll line, it was
my understanding that there was one elderly male descendant still living.
The last of this line of Carrolls. Unfortunately, it was my understanding
that he was very much a recluse, on hard times and was uncooperative to
anyone wanting to ask questions of his ancestors or family history. This
was ten years ago.
