CONGRATULATIONS, Eric.
I believe your Mother knew that she had a son who loved and respected
her enough to research her family.
I knew many Germans settled PA. I wonder if that has something to do
with the great industrial development and steel mills, etc there?
Now I still can't understand why so many people go to PA to the
Pennsylvania DUTCH country. They would never believe it was Deutsch,
to signify the language spoken by the western Germans.
We are happy for you even if we might find our roots on the Emerald
Isle or no telling where... Who cares, as long as we FIND our roots.
Lura

Subject: [CARROLL-DNA] FW: CARREL Closure At Last...
: Carrel Folks,
:
: At last I believe we have some closure on where in Europe, and where
in Pennsylvania, our Carrels came from before moving to Ohio. (Y-DNA
HaploGroup R1a, YSearch ID# DY8VJ)
:
: This from an obituary for "Grandma Curry", who was Philip and Mary's
third child Margaret Carrel, born 20 August 1802. She married George
Curry 21 February 1822 in Jefferson County, Ohio and lived out her
life in Augusta Township, Carroll County, Ohio. Her sister Catherine
Carrel Hart lived nearby.
:
: Obituary for Margaret Carrel Curry:
:
: The obit states that "Grandma" Curry died at 1:30 o'clock p.m.
Sunday, March 13, 1898 aged 95 yrs. Grandma Curry was perhaps the
oldest citizen living in Carroll County. She was born of German
parents in Lancaster Co. Pa. moving to Augusta when but a child and
has lived there ever since. She leaves a daughter and two sons behind
her. For many years past she had been a member of the M.E. church.
Interment at Herrington's churchyard at 2 o'clock Tue.
:
: I wish my own mother Edith Carroll Canter were alive to hear this,
but she passed away last March at 85 years.
