I had hoped that the dual geographical project for Wake-Johnston
Counties in NC would grow to be helpful for adjoining Sampson
County, but it has not grown much so far.
If interested, see:
https://www.familytreedna.com/my-ftdna/group-join.aspx?act=groupjoin&...
I wish we had a dual project for the Sampson/Duplin/Bladen
Counties in NC!! However, the mtDNA of the men we have tested
for Y-DNA would point to their mothers.... who may have ancestors
in FL, TX, AL, or anywhere.
We will learn more as time goes on. I do think it is fascinating
that those of us doing genealogy as a hobby have learned as much
as we have. We now even have enough knowledge to understand if
the doctor says there is a genetic disorder.
Let's keep learning and defy old age senility,
Lura

| Thanks, Whit - I think your "little project" is the wave of the
future
| for genealogy-DNA. I descend from the Sylvester WELCHs of VA,
and am
| frustrated that we don't have matching DNA from that line. But
I too,
| am actively looking for all-female line descendants of my
earliest
| Matriarchs, including those in the early WELCH tree. To be
absolutely
| sure, we need matching mtDNA from each Matriarch. The hard part
will
| be tracking down matches, and trying to find ones near our
Matriarchs
| in time and place.
|
| Congratulations on a great start, Whit!
