Females don't/can't have y DNA. The Peggy Ann may be the person buying
the test, and she wants to hide the real ne of the donor - that
happens in several cases with the BARTLETT DNA project.

Today I observed something on my cousin's personal website at
FTDNA that I don't understand, and I wanted to see if any of you
have noticed this.
There is a man who matches my cousin Robert Carroll, as 23/25,
33/37, and 60/67. At each of those matches there is the little
graphic on the right side to indicate a pedigree has been posted.
All three of those pedigrees begin exactly the same way. The
first person is shown on the left in green, and the given name is
"Peggy Ann ____". From there the lineage continues upward to the
father (shown in blue) and then the usual upward paternal line.
HOW can that be possible??
A male carries the Y-DNA of his father and the mtDNA of his
mother, but a female carries only the mtDNA of her mother,
doesn't she? I thought a female could not take the Y-DNA test to
determine the paternal line. I know a lot of women who would
have been tested long before now if that were possible.
I know FTDNA is beginning a new Family Finder program. Does
anyone know if testing a female for Y-DNA is part of that new
testing program?
I'm sure some of you are much more aware of what FTDNA can do
than I am.
