I'm directing this one to Kevin, the Administrator of the Carroll
Y-DNA Project....
Kevin,
On April 20, 2007, you posted the following announcement on the
Project website:
http://www.familytreedna.com/public/carroll/default.aspx?section=news
"One of our Members has offered to pay for a 37 Marker Test for
up to five Carroll Surname holders who can reliably trace their
lineage and Clan or Sept affiliation back to the 1500's. Please
contact the Administrator if you think you may qualify."
Has anyone accepted this offer? If so, where did their ancestor
live or to which Sept did they belong? Can we post this
information on the website?
As you have noted on the same FTDNA website, our Sampson/Duplin,
NC men have a haplotype or profile similar to that of other men
believed to live in Northeast Ireland. I think we may never have
learned that much without the DNA testing. However, we have no
one directly connected there yet and have no record of any Sept
or other allegiance. Personally, I am more interested in finding
the location where they lived. So far that information is well
hidden.
Will you be able to add to the website the offer Jim Bartlett
just made to pay for a descendant of Dempsey Carroll and Frances
Sanford? Jim can give you more specific information needed to
distinguish him from others with that name. I'll bet there is a
young man in KY right now who would love to have his DNA tested
but has no idea such a possibility is available to him!
Maybe someone else would like to offer to pay for a specific
lineage to be tested?? It does cost a lot of money.
