Has no one from your Carroll family been tested?
Are there any male brothers, cousins, uncles, or nephews with the
Carroll surname?
I understand about not having someone to test. I can't talk
cousins on my Mother's side of the family to test.
Good luck,
Lura

| Hi Lura,
|
| LOL Lura.
| |
| Well until I can get people who are not on the internet to test
like the old
| folks in North Carolina and in Tennessee.I'll never know who
I'm related
| to!!
|
| I do know for a fact that my Carroll's are from North Carolina
at least
| around 1820 or so. My James A Carroll is on the 1850 McMinn
County, TN
| census.that's as far as I get.did the DNA.no matches except
with the Allen
| surname back 25 generations. So I'm stuck!! But he does state
on at least 3
| census's that he was born in NC.

| |
| Did everyone just give up trying to use DNA to find Carroll
| ancestors?
| |
| There has been almost no communication on this mail list since
|
| November. Has everyone found a connection to cousins who all
|
| have similar DNA and discovered that you had a common ancestor
in the "old country" around 1000 AD? I didn't think so!
| |
| May I suggest that someone tell us how you HAVE made some
progress matching DNA with another person?
| |
| Then would someone tell us of a challenge you are experiencing,
and maybe another person will have a suggestion?
| |
| Many people in genealogy research are senior citizens.
Frankly,
|
| I happen to know some of us may not have a really long time to
accomplish what we want to do for leaving a record of our family
for future generations.
| |
| Let's get to work and help each other.
