John was b/ca/1645 and d/1690. John was the son of
John Carrington and either his first wife, Mary, or second wife, Joan.
He was b/1602. He came to America with first wife Mary. In 1651 John
and his second wife were tried, convicted, and hung as witches in New
Haven, CT.
I descend from
Hannah Carrington m. Joshua Holcomb II 1694 in Simsbury, CT
she is the dau of John & ?
Info from
A Digest of the Early CT Probate Records, comp. Charles Wm Manwaring,
1995, p. 75: of Waterbury, Inventory taken 30 Jun 1690 valued at 120
pound-12-11. wife deceased, children John 23, Mary 18, Hannah 15, Clark
12, Elizabeth 8, Ebenezer 3.
I believe John, Jr. to be a child of John Sr's first marriage with Mary,
as the records imply a mother with children would not be executed. Thus
Joan would have been spared.
Does anyone else share this line?
