Hello Carrington Rooters,
Hi,
I've got a copy of a book written by Mary Ethel Tilley in the 1940's. It's
all about those North Carolina Carrington's but also includes a bit of
information on the name. If you are interested in a copy, I can send it to
you in a long email or as a file attachment. If enough of you guys are
interested in it, I could post it in pieces to the list. Just let me know....
Tracey
I would like to add to Tracey's review of the Mary Ethel Tilley book,
that a few year back, Dee Ann Buck in Fairfax Virginia compiled a
Cozzart book and included amny corrections and additions to Mary's work.
My interest in the Carrington surname stems from my efforts to complete
the Hall genealogy where one Sarah married Alfred Carrington and removed
to Marshall Co., Mississippi. There was another who married William H.
Carrington but I think I have that straight. If any of this is of
interest to anyone; I am willing to share.
Another good resource for Carrington of NC especially the
Durham,Granville and Person areas is a little known privately published
manuscript by Ben Patrick detailing the relocation of the families to
build Camp Butner during WWII
A copy of this manuscript can be found at the Richard Thornton library
in Oxford NC and at the NC State Archives Library in Raleigh.
Good luck.
Barbara Anne
