The Wilkes Co. Papers, 1773-1833: All on Daniel Carrington, p83
Inventory
of Estate of Isaac Callaway 1820, p159 Suit by Wiley Maughon against
Richeson and Christopher Booker 1821, signed by Daniel (doesn't say
why Daniel signed); p171 Suit by Nathaniel Ragan against Daniel and
Henry Pope, and Charles Smith...1830....they owed him money....they
lost; p 176, Daniel served on Grand Jury as juror 1824; p 182 Daniel was
a witness against Joseph, Mary, John, and William ONeal 1818 (so was
Isaac Callaway, Enoch Callaway, Joseph Henderson, James Riggins, and
Isaac Lambert) in a case charging the Oneals with helping hide a slave
of James Riggins; p 240 Daniel married, as Minister of Gospel, William
Brown and Harriet Dodson 12 Dec 1827; p 242 Daniel and John Callaway
signed a marriage bond 6 Aug 1799 for license for Daniel Carrington to
marry Nancy Callaway...sounds like Daniel was the principal and John
the suretor. It doesn't say which book or page.
The GA Black Book Vol I (mordbid, macabre & sometimes disgusting
records of genealogical value.....one of my personal favorites) p 159:
William Carrington was killed by homicide by Hannon Blackmon in
Troup Co. GA 4 Aug 1866.
Index to GA Wills, p 26 John P. Carrington guardian Coweta Co. 1828-48
(No other info....this is not my favorite book)
That's about it for that shelf. I didn't put the books with no
Carringtons.
Alot of this shelf was on South GA and NE GA. Since no Carringtons
were in these, I can assume they weren't in this area. Also I checked
the GA Intestate book without finding a Carrington. The abstractor
was very poor as much misinformation and omissions were in this book.
There was a notation of an ACA Carrington but he was
Black in Hancock Co. GA. Since I recognized other known White
family names listed about Aca and other Blacks, it's likely that Aca's
owner was a Carrington since at that time Blacks usually took the last
name their owners.
