Wondered if the "Timothy" Carrington descend for the earlier
Timothy Carrington in Fairfax/Loudoun CoVA?
I descend from a "Timothy" Carrington of Loudoun CoVA, but he
went to NC about time of Rev. War and then to Georgia
I have a Timothy CARRINGTON (b. 1789) who would have been a bit young (to
say the least) to have been the one who received the grants in 1783 & 1784
in Fayette Co, KY. My Timothy was the son of Samuel CARRINGTON (b. 1754) &
Mildren McDANIEL (or McDonald). Could the Timothy CARRINGTON of the grants
have been a brother to Samuel?
BTW, "Small Mt Cr" is now known as Hinkston Creek in Montgomery County. It
was called "Small Mountain Creek" because it flowed past a large mound.
This mound had been built and used (probably about 1200 - 1500 A.D.) by what
was known as the Adena Indians for their burial ground. There were a number
of these mounds in the area, but this was supposedly the largest.
Unfortunately, it was removed by settlers in the area. One unconfirmed
rumor is that my 3G-GF, Thomas Hoffman, may have been one of the ones that
removed the mound as he built his house near there in the early 1800s.
