Hello Charlton,
Although I don't have access to the relevant records, there are certainly
numbers of CARRINGTONs around Manchester.
The Carringtons originated in Cheshire, in the area which is now Greater
Manchester, and spread through the UK.
I have come across several families in Coed Poeth, just outside Wrexham, and
have a contact who is also researching those families.
It looks as if you are right about the marriage. FreeBMD has the following -
John Carrington m. Mary Hughes MarchQ 1855 at Wrexham 11b/415.
I will contact you directly with more information.

Subject: [Carrington] John Carrington born Manchester
Date: Mon, 29 Aug 2005 16:49:21 +1000
Hi,
This is my first post to the Carrington mailing list.
I am researching my 2nd Great Grandfather, John Carrington, born abt 1821
in Manchester, England, he died in 1916. John later appears and founded a
family in Holywell Wales. I have much of the welsh history from the 1881
Census. John was a Master Mariner, as were his son's John and Charley. I
suspect he married Mary Hughes in 1855 in Wrexham (again in Wales).
Does John appear on anyone's list, or can any one tell me about any links
of the Carrington name to the Manchester area?
