The 1780 taxable property list of St. Mary's district in Orange County, NC lists 4
Carrington men - John, Sr; George; John, Jr; and James. The 1790 census of NC lists
Ephraim, George, John, John, Nathaniel, and James.
I believe the 1780 list is of John Sr ( wife Mary Pamplin) and 3 oldest sons . The 1790
list is for the same men plus 2 more sons Ephraim and Nathaniel. They evidently were not
old enough for taxes in 1780. Agree? Disagree?
on the 1800 census are 4 Johns. One will be John whose wife is Mary Pamplin, one his son
John, but who are the other 2 Johns? John and Mary's son James has a son John
according to his will. Is this one of those extra Johns? Does son john have a son named
John?
Thanks for any help!
