Rev. Timothy and Winnifred (King) CARRINGTON had 10 children, 5 sons and 5 daughters. The
last child, a daughter, was born c 1793 in Georgia. There was no son named
"James." The first 8 of the children were listed in the Timothy CARRINGTON
family Bible. Nine of their children who were still living when Rev. Timothy died in 1822
signed his estate distribution papers. Between the two sources mentioned, the names of
all 10 children were verified.
While Rev. Timothy and family did live in NC during the Revolutionary War years, they were
in Georgia by 1786 when he was granted 300 acres of land in Wilkes County. (Grant Book
III, p. 589).
Based on the above documented evidence, I see no possibility of a connection between your
James CARRINGTON born c 1796 and Rev. Timothy CARRINGTON.
There was a CARRINGTON family in Orange County, NC that you might want to investigate in
your research. Other CARRINGTON family lines were in Connecticut, Maryland, Virginia, and
possibly South Carolina.
If you have a living male direct-line descendant of your James CARRINGTON, I encourage you
to get him tested in the CARRINGTON Y-DNA project. Best of luck in your CARRINGTON family
research.
