In the 1880 census,John P Carrington, age 25, farmer (TX-GA-GA) is living in Washington
Co., with wife Lee, 25, son, Arthur, 6 months, Dick, 4 and (step) son, Emmet Rhode, all
born Texas. There is no record in Washington Co. of this marriage.
In 1900, I have not been able to locate any of these individuals. However, in Waller Co.,
there is:
John P Carrington, physician b jan. 1854 (TX-VA-GA), with wife Laura (Nov 71) and children
Ralph, 8, Ethel 7 and Morgan 6. This is probably the sames as J P Carrington who married
Laura Hill in Burleson Co. in 1890.
In 1910, this same John P Carrington (now MO-MO-MO), is living in Nolan Co., TX with wife,
Laura and children, Ethel, Morgan and Kyle. Emmet Rhode is found living in Brazos Co.
In 1920, John Perry Carrington (TX-VA-GA), wife Laura and son Kyle are in Scurry Co., TX.
According to Texas Register of physicians, JP Carrington died in 1927.
In 1930, his widow, Laura H Carrington, now a practical nurse, is living in Plainview,
Hale Co., TX, with her widowed mother, Wincy Hill, widowed daughter-in-law, Imogene
Carrington and four grandchildren, Gordon and Carrol Crayton and Lem and Rueanna Gibson.
1-Is the 1880 farmer the same person as the later physician and, if so, what happened to
his first family?
2-Is he (or either one of them), the John Carrington who was the son of Oliver P and
Adaline (Rainwater) Carrington of Brenham, TX?
Any help would be appreciated.
