I am a 4th great granddaughter of Rev. Timothy Carrington of Madison County, GA. Timothy
was born c 1742 and is currently believed to be part of the Charles County, MD Carringtons
because of the given name "Timothy" and the fact that my Timothy was first found
in the 1768 Loudoun County, VA Tithables List on the plantation of Col. Francis Lightfoot
Lee. My Timothy married Winnifred King, d/o John King and Mary Osborne, in 1774 in
Loudoun County, VA. They produced ten children, the first son named "Daniel,"
the first daughter named "Nancy," then came Henson, Sarah "Salley,"
Osborne, Winnifred, Micajah, John, William W., and Mary "Polly," many of which
were names often found in the Maryland Carrington line.
To date we have not been able to prove the connection to the Maryland Carringtons, but we
believe our Timothy might be the son of a Timothy Carrington who was born about 1726 in
Charles Co., Md. and died about 1813 probably in Lewis Co., Ky. In a Charles Co., Md.
Land Deed, #13710, this Timothy Carrington of Fairfax Co., Va. named his wife Mary
[believed to have been Mary E. Lane] and his land sold by heirs: Timothy, William, Ann
(wife of Samuel Robey), and Mary (wife of Benjamin Robey). This document was dated 1804.
According to other Carrington data I have seen, this Timothy would be Timothy Carrington,
II, son of John Carrington, Jr., and Susannah Murphy.
Can anyone provide any additional information or comments?
Also, is anyone out there interested in participating in a Carrington Y-DNA Project? I
have a living, breathing male Carrington first cousin who would contribute DNA for our
Carrington line. To read all about Y-DNA testing for genealogy, go to the Family Tree DNA
Web site at URL:

Those interested in participating in a Y-DNA project please respond to this message board
or to Carrington-L(a)rootsweb.com, not directly to me. That way everyone can judge the
amount of interest in such a project for helping us sort out our various Carrington family
lines.
