Christine...My grandmother was a Carrington. Her grandfather was
William
Ward Carrington (born abt. 1837 in Connecticut), and his father could be a
Stephen or a S.H. Carrington (born abt. 1796 in Connecticut). My
grandfather's family line includes the Bartholomews whose family members
include John Carrington & his wife Joan (killed as witches). So I'm
interested in both these lines. Can you help? Thanks so much.
Hi: According to THE GILBERT FAMILY, DESCENDANTS OF THOMAS GILBERT, 1582(?)
- 1659 by Brainard, Windsor and Torrey: Stephen Hall CARRINGTON, b. 3 Sep
1795, s/o Timothy CARRINGTON & Esther HALL, m. 27 Nov 1822 Lydia GILBERT,
b. 22 Jul 1802, d. 28 Jan 1856, dau/o Asa GILBERT I & Mary GOODWIN. Both
are siblings of my ancestors. Timothy's d/o/b is from FAMILIES OF ANCIENT
NEW HAVEN by Donald Lines Jacobus, and his lineage as far as I have been
able to trace it is: Timothy CARRINGTON & Mamre MUNSON; Dan CARRINGTON &
Hannah TUTTLE; Dr. Peter CARRINGTON & Ann (WILMOT) LINES. I have never
found any tie to John & Joan. I would like very much to find Dr. Peter's
parents and ancentry!
There is another witch, in the GILBERT line, Lydia _____; but whether she
is wife of the immigrant Thomas or his son Thomas is disputed.
Jacobus' book may name Stephen & Lydia's children, but I did not copy them
and I don't have the book. I hope you find that your William is among them.
Another person wrote: Scott...I can give you what little information I have
concerning my family's connection with the infamous Carrington's. I also
have some info on the trial itself. My grandmother's first cousin, Robert
Carrington, put together this material. He doesn't give any sources, so we
are also in a quandrary about all of this. Let me know. I don't know if
this will substantiate your family connections or not.
I would like to hear from this writer, too, to learn more about "the
infamous Carringtons" and the trial. Please reply to address above.
Cousin? Isabel
