Hi Tom,
I'd like anything you can send on the Carrington line out of Barbados and Orange NC.
John Carrington probably arrived 1750s from Barbados, along with George Carrington, his
uncle. I think he married Mary Pamplin in VA (she was listed as born in Rappahannock Co
VA in one of their sons statements).
Both John and his uncle George show up in Orange NC around 1760, then George ends up in
Cumberland VA later. I have a photo of the tomb of John's mother, Henningham
Codrington Carrington. She is buried at St. Phillips Church in Barbados. I have the
Carringtons traced a few generations earlier. The Codrington line goes way way back to
around 1300 and ties into the Drury, Swynford, Roet (Katherine Roet) families and the
royal family in England....we're half cousins with the kings and queens in England
starting with the Tudors around 1500 and afterwards through Katherine Roet's second
marriage to John of Gaunt (a Plantaganet, son of the king).
My direct line is John Carrington (Barbados/Orange NC), Ephraim Carrington, John E.
Carrington, Sarah Carrington b1826 Carroll TN died TX (my 3g grandmother). My John E.
Carrington and his wife Polly disappear from Carroll/Henderson Co TN after 1840. He had
his land taken in 1841 (seemingly due to a debt) in Henderson TN. I wish I could find
what happened to them.
Thanks,
Gary
