Reviewing your board messages of 18 Aug 2012 & 10 Apr 2013, I also am a descendent,
they being my 5th great grandparents. History for Charity Carrington is almost non
existent unless it's attached to Quaker records or Joseph Wells. Any history on
George & Anne Mayo Carrington does not elicit any connection to Charity. Records
state that they had 11 children with Paul being the 1st born in 1733. I also have PDF
download of the Cabell publication and, like you, have found no reference to Charity.
Most family trees list her birthplace as Leesburg, Va in 1730, but Leesburg did not exist
in 1730. It wasn't founded until 1758. There have been some postings of Paul
Carrington, George's brother, fathering a child with a family slave in the 1720's
but I haven't verified this yet. Maybe it is possible that other children were borne
from slaves and Charity was one of them. Also there were Carringtons located in Maryland
and North Carolina as well.....so possibilities are endle!
ss. I surely would like to know the very first person who listed Charity as a daughter of
George and ask them where they got there information. Somehow, with her total contribution
to our trees, she has become somewhat of a mystery person. I have several Family History
Centers in my county and am utilizing there records. Haven't found much yet, but
I'm trying to learn how to work their files. Since you seem to have a DNA connection,
I will forward any info I find, unless you find it first. :>)
