Hi Frieda,
Do you know of a living male with the Carrington surname from your line (Walker Carrington
born 1805)? I'm trying to find male Carrington descendants of Walker Carrington born
1805, John J. Carrington born 1789 (son of John Jr and grandson of John Sr) and Sion
Carrington 1792-1848 Henderson TN (son of Ephraim, grandson of John Carrington Sr). Sion
was a brother of my John E. Carrington 1797-1844 Marshall MS, and I've yet to locate a
male Carrington from my line. John E's sons were or probably were robable Nelson D.
Carrington 1817-1841 Marshall MS (John E. administered), Walter S. Carrington b1820-?
(administered John E's estate in MS), Paul J. Carrington (administered John E) and
John D. Carrington 1826 NC - 1880s Henderson TN (married Nancy A. Darnell).
On another note, there was an Orange Co NC court case in 1829 where Dicey Carrington
Mangum (daughter of John Carrington Jr dec'd 1817) sued her brother, John J.
Carrington, seeking her share of their father's lands. She won, and the lands are
divided among the siblings. Also in the distribution was $10 James Freeland and $1 to
Addison Carrington (plus others). Larcena Elizabeth Carrington, daughter of Walker
Carrington, married a James Freeland 2 Aug 1847 in Carroll Co TN. Addison Carrington
married Judea Whitley 10 Jul 1832 in Gibson Co TN (where your Leonidis M. Carrington
married Manassa Dickins 19 Sep 1856. This suggests that this Addison Carrington and James
Freeland in Orange NC tie John Carrington Jr. Some of the money went to commissioners but
these two seem to be heirs. This James Freeland could be the one marrying in 1847 (born
c1815) and somehow already tied to the Carringtons (the Freeland family was from Orange).
Addison Carrington must have descended from Joh!
n Carrington Jr. Maybe he was the unknown son born c1794.
Thanks, Gary
