In 1840 Marshall Co TN, your C.D. Carrington (born 1812 died Graves Co KY 1850s) was
living near a Nelson Carrington age 20-30 (he was living alone).
I found the instate record for John E. Carrington in 1844 Marshall Co MS. Walter S.
Carrington administered, with admin securities by Paul J. Carrington and others. In 1841
Marshall Co MS, a Nelson D. Carrington died intestate with Joel D. Riggs administering,
and John E. Carrington and others providing security. This Nelson had a minimal estate
inventory and sale and no mention of a family, suggesting he was young. I suspect he might
be a son of John E. Carrington (he had 3 at least).
Also in Marshall MS was Alfred Carrington (son of Nathanial Carrington and Anna Davis and
a cousin of John E. Carrington) and James Monroe Carrington, a nephew from two directions.
James Monroe born 1825 was a son of John J. Carrington (1789 Orange NC - 1839 Madison TN),
a son of John Carrington Jr. c1755-1817 Orange NC and Jemima Tatum, and Frances/Fannie
Carrington c1790, a daughter of Nathaniel Carringotn and Anna Davis).
My assumption is that Nelson was a son of John E. Carrington along with possibly Walter S.
Carrington and Paul J. Carrington. Walker Carrington born 1805 had been in TN and MS
nearby althought his name is always with a "k". I think he was another cousin
(son of Thomas Carrington who disappeared from Orange NC c1820). A Paul J. Carrington from
the Halifax VA branch (a doctor) showed up in Hempstead AR 1860 briefly then ends up back
in Halifax VA. I doubt he was the one in MS since these lines were distant cousin by
then.
Please email/reply and maybe we can sort through these families some more. Thanks.
Gary
