Hi Mike,
You can email me at gkcarson(a)aol.com to trade information. I have a ton of Carrington family tree information. Two are hardcopy documents from some serious researchers (one is 67 pages long!) that seems very accurate and thorough.
I take the Family Search (Mormon) information as a starting place....some postings I've seen aren't that accurate.
Where did your Carringtons end up? and what dates and spouses do you have?
It seems you connect to these...nearly all of the Carringtons in NC came from the same origins as did many in VA.

Gary, I sure appreciate your information. I have used the Mormon lineage and dates but they seemed to be lacking in detail and without much 'proof' so I hesitate to give them too much credance. I don't know how to post their information like you did or I would just for your information. If you have confidence in your dates then I'll feel more secure about what I have. Would you like me to contact you directly via email? I'm not sure this is the right venue for this discussion as I'm a relative newbie here.
Thank you again for the information you provided. As I said, I'm now excited and motivated. The narrative you provided is most excellent and appreciated.

Janet,
Here's a brief version of what I have. It's from a 68 page hardcopy of a Carrington tree I received from another researcher (lot of details). Since it's not a computer document it takes awhile for me to sort through and find people and retype.
I haven't had time to type all of these into FTW software or a text document yet.

Mike, glad to help. If you descend from that William M. Carrington born c1822, a son of Alfred and Sarah Hall, then we are cousins.
Alfred was a son of Nathaniel Carrington born 1760 NC died 1849 NC and Anna Davis born 1762 NC died 1828 and grandson of John Carrington I and Mary Pamplin. John was born in Barbados.
Alfred is buried at Victoria, Marshall County MS (per the notes I received from other Carrington connections). Pasted below is information I have on Nathanial and his siblings and parents. I descend from Ephraim and his son John E. Carrington.

Mike,
I went through our Carrington family trees. Here are three William Carrington's listed in our lines around that date:
William Davis Carrington born 1825 Orange NC died 1862 at Battle of Shiloh (con of William Davis Carrington and Frances Cozart)
William M. Carrington born c1822 Orange NC married Nancy in MS (son of Alfred Carrington who married Sarah Hall 1820 Orange NC)
William Cabell Carrington born 1821 VA married Maria Dabney lived in Charlotte VA later (son of Henry Carrington and Louisa Elizabeth Cabell)
There are some descendants we don't have names for. Some went to TN, KY, MS and elsewhere.

Peter,
My U.S. Carrington ancestors came to North Carolina from Barbados in the 1700s. They supposedly originated in Cheshire UK according to trees I've seen. Paul Carrington born c1620 married Sarah Haughton and moved to Barbados.
Some say they went to Londonderry first then to Barbados.
I descend from Dr. Paul Carrington their son who married Henningham Codrington in St. Philip Barbados.
I'm not sure of the accuracy of these locations. Do you know of any Carringtons that originated in Cheshire?
Thanks,
Gary Carson
Hello, folks,
I'm writing this to advise you of certain difficulties RootsWeb has had
over the past couple of weeks in delivering mail to certain of its
lists. In the most recent occurrence, the problem appears to be
affecting lists that are on RootsWeb "lists5" server only. This list is
on that server, hence this post.
Briefly, the problem is that a number of smaller ISPs make use of
various commercial services in an effort to control spam. One of those
services is SpamCop ... you can find the SpamCop home page at:
http://www.spamcop.net/ . Unfortunately, this particular spam control
service doesn't really care very much about the accuracy of its
protective services. The RootsWeb "lists5" server has been "blacklisted"
by SpamCop three times over the past two weeks and each time, any ISP
that uses this commercial service has rejected all legitimate list mail
that it has received from RootsWeb for delivery. The result has been
that significant volumes of legitimate list mail have been undelivered
over this period and many subscribers have been bounced off their lists.
If you're wondering if the list has been quieter than usual the past few
days, this is likely the reason.
There is more information on this current issue available in the yellow
box at: http://helpdesk.rootsweb.com/ . RootsWeb has done all it can to
resolve the issue. They suggest that one thing that subscribers can do
is to contact their ISP and request that RootsWeb list mail be
"whitelisted", meaning that it will be delivered and the SpamCop
settings will be ignored.
Happy to respond to any subscribers' questions on this, of course ...
pls contact me OFF-LIST at:

Looking for any descendents of Albert (b. ab. Naming patterns are a very important part of finding 'lost' relatives. However, in this case, note that the names Mahulda, Hiram, Ennis & Minerva show up in the family of Rev Timothy Carrington of Virginia, while the names Asa & Lucinda are, as you noted, prevalent in the families of Samuel Carrington who also came through Kentucky (where the name Clay also shows up).
Other name clues include:
Sons Timothy and Arthur both named sons Walter (anyone have a few Walters in their lines?)
Apparent last names: Edgerton (Timothy Edgerton) and McClain (George McClain). There were several McClains in close proximity to Carringtons in Kentucky - just not my Asa (as far as I have been able to find thus far).
And in 1880 Timothy lived next door to Wilson R Carrington age 42, b Ohio - coincidence?
Which way to go? The most avid researcher I have communicated with on Rev Timothy Carrington has yet to find what family he came from (alien spacecraft material!). Likelihood is that Timothy and Samuel are related in some way and my Asa is part of that missing link.
All of this has been part of my speculation. Anyone else want to wade in here?

I do not know the parents, but I would guess Asa is abrother or possiby a 1st cousin of Samuel Carrington, probably a brother. My thinking is based on the fact that Samual's son, Thomas named a son Asa -- probobly for Thomas' uncle.
Al I have for siblings ofg Samuel is his sister, Priscilla. It just seems more like there should be others and having a brother named Asa would fit.
Now to find the proof, if any!!

If anyone has any information, especially on the parents of Asa, Asa's death, Lucinda's maiden name, marriages of any of the children not listed, burial locations, etc. it would be much appreciated.
