Pat,
I believe that I am descended from the same James Carrigan & Isabell Brown mentioned
in your posting. Here is what I have, and let's see if it agrees with what you've
got:
James Carrigan, born 10 Dec. 1716, Cootehill, Cavan, Ireland, died 8 Feb. 1793 in Cabarrus
County, NC and is buried at the Coddle Creek Presbyterian (ARP) Church. Was a teacher,
merchant and farmer. He married Isabelle Brown, born c. 1726, Cootehill, Cavan, Ireland,
died 23 Sept. 1804, Cabarrus Co.
Their children:
Jane Carrigan, born about 1751.
Rebecca Carrigan, born about 1753 in Cootehill, Cavan, Ireland.
Mary Carrigan was born about 1754.
Martha Carrigan was born about 1755.
Margaret Carrigan was born about 1757 in Hawfield, Orange County, NC. She died about 1817
in Cabarrus County, NC.
Isabel "Sibby" Carrigan was born about 1758, in Hawfield, Orange County, NC. She
died about 1824 in Cabarrus County, NC.
Robert Carrigan was born about 1759. He died about 1779.
William F. Carrigan was born on September 26, 1760.
James Carrigan, II, was born about 1770, in Hawfield, Orange County, NC. He died on Feb.
2, 1840.
John "Big John" Carrigan was born about 1771 in Hawfield, Orange County, NC. He
died on March 31, 1822, in Mill bridge, Rowan County, NC. He was buried at Thyatira
Presbyterian Church.
James Carrigan II mentioned above married Margaret Carrigan (born about 1765, died after
1840). I have no idea if she was his cousin or not. I have five children for them:
Robert "Bobby" Carrigan, born June 11, 1790.
James Carrigan III, born about 1792.
John Carrigan, born March 31, 1794.
Mary "Polly" Carrigan, born c. 1799/1800.
Margaret B. "Peggy" Carrigan, born about 1810.
Mary "Polly" Carrigan married William S. Van Pelt (c. 1799-1851) on 10 Oct.
1821, in Cabarrus Co., NC. They had 10 children, one of whom was Mary Jane Van Pelt
(1831-1905) who was the second wife of Levi Bell (1812-1893). They had 7 children, one of
whom was Mary Rhetta Bell (1862-1947) who married Ernest Marion Field (1866-1904) in 1888.
They had 7 children, one of whom was John Levi Field (1902-1963) my grandfather. I never
knew him as he died before I was born.
I hope we can compare notes.
Best Regards,
John Field Pankow
