I apologize for the confusion, but Philemon M. & Elizabeth (Unknown) Carrigan, were in
White River Twp., Washington Co., AR, by 1860. The McMinn Co., TN reference was to give
you an idea of where they were before migrating to AR. Their 1850 McMinn Co., TN
household contained a Martha Carrigan, age 16, b. ca. 1834, that is not found in their
1860 household, leading me to speculate that she either died or was married by the 1860
census. The following marriage information yields a possible end to the speculation:
William Hanna to Martha Elizabeth Carrigin, 19 Jul 1855, Washington Co., AR; husband at
time of marriage 17 yrs; wife at time of marriage 21 yrs.
[source: William Hanna/Martha Elizabeth Carrigan entry, International Genealogical Index
(IGI) (Provo, UT: Family History Library, 2003), citing microfilm 1034247 for batch
M586231.]
The 1860 McDonald Co., MO census entry you mentioned indicates that your Martha Carrigan
was born ca. 1834 in TN. Because both William and little James H. Hanna are reported as
being born in AR, it is unlikely that the mention of Martha's birthplace was just a
fluke.
Philemon and Elizabeth Carrigan had four known children:
James C. Carrigan (ca. 1831-19 Feb 1865), mar. Minerva Jane Hanna, 4 Aug 1854, Wash. Co.,
AR
John C. Carrigan (10 Jan 1832-10 Apr 1863) mar. Manerva Harris, 23 Mar 1853, McMinn Co.,
TN
Martha Carrigan (ca. 1834-d. aft. 1860, based on my last census siting), mar. William
Hanna
Sarah Carrigan (ca. 1837-d. aft. 1860, based on my last census siting)
Note that one of the young men in this household married a Harris girl in McMinn Co., TN
in 1853 and the other married a Hanna girl in Washington Co., AR in 1854, which indicates
that the Phillemon Carrigan family migrated from TN to AR between those two dates.
I noticed a mention of a Barsheba Carrigan Hanna in this thread also...
Barsheba Carrigan is found in the 1860 and 1870 White River Twp., Washington Co., AR
household of her father and mother--John C. & Manerva (Harris) Carrigan (see above).
She and her family are living next door to Philemon and Elizabeth Carrigan. Since
Barsheba marries James Hanna and also ends up in MO, living not far from your Martha &
William Hanna, I feel you have something more than a coincidence.
