Liz,
I found them in the 1880 census of Peoria!!
John RYAN was born about 1828 in Ireland. Both parents were born in Ireland.
In 1880, he was a hotel-keeper living in Peoria, Peoria County, Illinois. He
had emigrated from Ireland to the USA sometime prior to 1852.
Ellen CARRIGAN was born about 1835 in Ireland and both of her parents were
born in Ireland. In 1880, she was of course living with her family in Peoria,
Illinois. Her ocupation in 1880 was listed as "keeping house".
John RYAN and Ellen CARRIGAN married in Peoria County, Illinois, on April 16,
1852.
Their children were:
Michael, born about 1856 in Illinois; saloon-keeper in 1880;
William, born about 1858 in Illinois; boiler-maker in 1880;
Elizabeth "Lizzie", born about 1863 in Illinois;
Mary, born about 1866 in Illinois; at school in 1880;
Lucy, born about 1872 in Illinois; at school in 1880; and
Loretta, born about 1876 in Illinois.
All of these children were still alive for the 1880 census in Peoria, IL.
Loretta RYAN possibly grew up in Bloomington, McLean County, Illinois.
She married my grandfather's oldest brother, John LOWRY. John was born in
1875 in Crittenden Twp., Champaign County, Illinois, to William M. LOWRY and
Margaret (nee CARRIGAN) LOWRY. John LOWRY died on November 28, 1931, in
Bloomington, McLean County, Illinois. John LOWRY and Loretta (nee RYAN) LOWRY
had the following children: Lorraine, Raymond, Lucille, Thomas and Ann Lois
LOWRY.
If you are looking for the burial place of John RYAN and Ellen (nee CARRIGAN)
RYAN, you might either try St. Joseph's Cemetery on West Heading Avenue in
West Peoria, Illinois.
Let me know what you think. Does this information help or had you already
seen it?
