There are a few new researchers joining us and I'd like to take
this opportunity to welcome them and to offer a pointer that
would facilitate their research efforts... And to also remind some
of our regulars who may have forgotten.
When you do send questions about your ancestors try to include
as much information as possible - forward or backward generations,
time span and localities.
Remember that we are talking about a close knit group that followed
traditional naming practices and usually married locally.
So in the mid 1800's you could have 3 Jean Baptiste BOIVINs
married to 3 Madeleine DAOUSTs all in the same village.
It would make our job easier if you supplied us with as much info
as you already have. Many of us have church registries and can trace
back generations -- and there are hundreds of church registries.
You could even start listing back from your parents or grandparents
because that info you probably have in detail and it would tell us
which resource books to start looking in.
