Services For Mrs. Carriere Set Thursday
Funeral services for Mrs. Rosanna Mary Carriere will be held at 10
o'clock Thursday morning at St. Monica's Catholic Church with Father
John McGoldrick officiating. Interment will be in the family plot at
the Willows Catholic cemetery. Rosary will be said at 8 o'clock
tomorrow evening at F. D. Sweet & Son Funeral Home.
Mrs. Carriere died yesterday afternoon at the Glenn General Hospital
She was born at the Spooner Ranch south of Willows, February 7, 1876,
and spent her entire lifetime in Glenn County. Her parents were Mr.
and Mrs. Frank Spooner, prominent early day farmers of this area.
Mrs. Carriere and her husband, Albini Carriere celebrated their golden
wedding anniversary before his death on December 12, 1949.
Mrs. Carriere was an active member of the Young Ladies Institute.
She is survived by the following children, Wilfred Carriere of Glenn,
Isadore Carriere of Princeton, Victor Carriere of Oakland, Edmond
Carriere of Glenn and Mrs. Anna Holopeter of Cromberg, California, six
sisters, Mrs. Mary Campeau of Oakland, Mrs. Adeline LaGrande and Mrs.
Zeta Taylor, both of Willows, Mrs. Alice Shuman, Mrs. Lucy Oltenwalter
and Mrs. Sylvena Smith all of Colusa, three brothers, Joseph, Andrew
and Ambrose Spooner all of Willows. She is also survived by 21
grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
