To Grady:
My Adelbert Warner Carrier was born May 7, 1867 in Gaines, Genesee Co.,
MI.and died December 18, 1918 in Lennon, Genesee Co., MI. My
great-grandmother Lillian Woods, his wife, said he died on the barn
floor after telling her, "Lill, run for my pills." My great-grandmother
was a grand old lady who finished raising her 3 boys alone, worked in
the garden and once got stuck in her eighties while whitewashing the
wall behind the woodstove. She wore a "waist" not a blouse and pinned
her apron fronts to them. When she died she left two pairs of
hand-knitted mittens for each of her great grandchildren.
Adelbert's grandfather Erastus was born April 14 1784 in Colchester
Twp., New London, CT and died April 25, 1855 and was buried in Oakwood
Cemetery in Nunda, NY.
Grady, Your Myron Adelbert, also moved to Michigan from to NYS right?
To Neal: Adelbert does seem to be popular in the second half of the
19th century. Adelbert A. Carrier's Civil War picture which was
apparently taken when he was about 30 years includes that he was in Co
H, 143 Regt,NYS Volunteer Infantry. And, Neal, were your wife's
Adelberts also from NYS?
