Thank you Neal for the welcome.
I too have several surname lists and allow a certain amount of laxity. In 3
years I have only had one person on one of my lists (out of 531) who
complained about a posting.
My name is Ley K. O'Connor and I live in Carson city, Nevada. Grandmother of
8, mother of 3 exceptional daughters. I have been doing genealogy since I was
old enough to be carried around by my gg-grandmother and the rest of the
women in my early life, a total of 5 generations of oldest daughters until I
was 12 years old. I learned to crawl and walk in dusty court houses of
Northern Louisana, southern Arkansas and East Texas, not to mention the other
states.
I have been researching in Hungarian, Russian, German, Irish, English and my
favorite, Canadian records.
I'm truly addicted and love the virtual "travel" that the computer gives me
and the wonderful people out in the rest of the world that are so very helpful
I have posted many files on Rootsweb (mostly in Union County Arkansas),
Genserve and am a current member of Random Acts of Genealogical Kindness.

I have very little about the Carriers I seek. I promised my mother that I
would attempt to follow this up for my half brother whose father was a
Carrier.
Matt (Matthew?) and Bertha Carrier were living in Cotton Valley about 1940.
It is my understanding they moved there about 1929 from around Opelousas and
lived in Lafayette, La for a time. Matthew worked for the railroad. My mother
said that Matt and Bertha spoke French or a patois which consisted of French
and ?
Some of the names of the children were
Louis Merrick (Sr.)b. about 1920; sons Louis Merrick, Jr and William Henry
who died at birth and 3-7 children with second wife.
Elliot b. about 1916 married a Josephine, has 3 daughters (one daughter
Wilda-Wida ?)
As you can see I have my work cut out for me as I do have so little. And, to
make it worse, everything I have is well after 1920 and my first hopes for
starting.
ANY HELP appreciated and yes I'm yelling. I don't really know where to start
since I need to start before the available census records.
