Hello Everyone,
My name is Dave Carrier and I live in Rancho Cucamonga, California (yes,
there really is a Cucamonga--Jack Benny didn't invent it!).
I've been researching my Carrier family line since inheriting documents from
my Grand Uncle a few years ago. Unfortunately, I have been unable to verify
a source beyond what my Grand Uncle Craig Carrier had determined in the 30's
through the 50's. Without going into my successes in other parts of my tree,
my missing link begins as follows:
My father was William R. Carrier, b. 3/9/1918, d. 7/16/94, son of
Stephen Russell Carrier, b 5/25/1879, d. 1951, m. Edna Mae Scott. Stephen
was the son of:
John Henderson Carrier, b. 1834, d, 1909, m. Margaret Melvina Chesnut. John
was the son of:
William H. Carrier, b. ca. 1807, d. aft. 1871, m. Margaret Gourley. William
was the son of:
Thomas Carrier, b. ca. 1764, d. ca. 1860, m. Nancy Hatcher
My missing link is the parents of my GGG Grandfather, Thomas Carrier. More
than one person has listed Thomas's father as John Carrier, Jr., the son of
W. John Carrier. I believe this is true, but I have been unable to find any
documentation to prove this. One problem I have found is a Thomas Carrier,
son of John Carrier, Jr., is shown to have a birth year of 1788. The 1850
census shows my Thomas's age to be 86, making his birth year ca. 1764. I
don't feel comfortable filling in the next generation without a source. Is
anyone aware of any reasonable documentation of my Thomas's father? I'm also
dead in the water with his wife Nancy's family.
Cousins please write!
