While doing some other research I came across the following:
The Hatchers were a prominent family in Colonial VA having settled in Henrico
Co in the early 17th century from England. William, the emigrant, was an
early member of the House of Burgesses and became a supporter of Bacon's
Rebellion which nearly cost him his life.
His GG/Grandson, Jameston, Jr., settled in Sullivan Co., TN. William, s/o
Jameston, Jr. had a daughter Nancy (#1) b. 1787 in Sullivan Co who mar Thomas
T. Carrier, b. 1774 in VA s/o John and Mary Morrell Carrier. They had a son
named Thomas Jr and a daughter Nancy (#2) Their son, Jonathan m. Nancy (#3)
Jane Lipps.
Jonathan and Nancy Hatcher and Thomas T. and Nancy Hatcher Carrier migrated
to Laurel Co. KY about 8 Mar 1830. Jonathan died 24 Dec 1888 and Nancy died
1 Oct 1884 in Laurel Co. Both are buried in family cem on Sally's Branch,
Laurel Co., Ky. Thomas T. Carrier, Sr. died 1850's in Laurel Co. Nancy died
in 1860s in Pulaski Co., KY
As you can see there are two Thomas T. Carriers and 3 Nancy Hatchers above.
There is also a Thomas S. Carrier of Sullivan Co., TN who moved to Texas in
1870 and died there in 1922. He did not marry a "Nancy"!! He is my
great-great uncle.
Hope this helps clarify some of the Carrier-Hatcher myths.
There is lots more info on these Hatcher is anyone is interested.
