NEW BEDFORD -- Noella (Carrier) Fournier, 90, of New Bedford, died
Wednesday
morning, Oct. 20, 1999, at Sacred Heart Home. She was the widow of Dennis
Fournier
Born in Providence, daughter of the late Hubert and Emma (Carrier) Carrier,
she was raised in New Bedford.
In 1933, when she married, she moved to Somersworth, N.H., where she lived
for nearly 30 years, before returning to New Bedford in 1964.
Mrs. Fournier was a weaver in the local textile industry, employed by both
the Berkshire-Hathaway Co. and the Acushnet Co., rubber division.
She and her three sisters, all widows, lived together first at Melville
Towers, then at the Sacred Heart Home, where they were featured in an article
in The Standard-Times on Jan. 4, 1997, entitled 'The Sisters Carrier.'
She was a past communicant of St. Anthony Church, New Bedford and St. Julie
Billiart Church, Dartmouth. She regularly attended Mass at the Sacred Heart
Home. She was a member of Les Dames Patronesse and enjoyed spending time
with
her sisters, children and grandchildren.
Survivors include a daughter, Rachel Baker of Las Vegas; three sons, Emile
R. "Frenchy" Fournier of Dartmouth, Dennis Fournier of Fairhaven and Paul
Fournier of Ashland, N.H.; a sister, Gabrielle McCorkill of New Bedford; nine
grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
She was the sister of the late Juliette Bourque, Dozia "Daisy" Doyon,
Antonio Carrier, Armand Carrier and Roger Carrier.
Her funeral will be at 8:30 a.m. Saturday from the Donaghy Funeral Home, 465
County St., followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 9:30 a.m. at the Chapel
of the Sacred Heart Home. Interment will be at 2:30 p.m. the Mount Calvary
Cemetery, Somersworth, N.H.
