I found this on a list discussing the surname Rogers. Maybe one of the "smart"
members of the list can tell me if "de Sieur" does translate into Carrier in
English
for sure.
Maybe we're really descended from Thomas de Sieur alias Carrier alias Morgan
alias ???????? <g>

One other item of that may be just a story. It is said that the Rogers is a
derivitive of the french name "Rod de Sieur" or "Rod Carrier" When
William
the conquerer came to England, his bookkeeper was named Rod de Sieur.
There is some suggestion that this was eventually corrupted to Rodgers and
Rogers.
I have run across this story a number of times in research but
there is no hard evidence to support it as yet. Good luck.
