I don't know whether it is on film or not I found it in
transcription form
in the Jonesboro library in Washington County. If it is on film it may
well
be in the North Carolina archives. the title is " The North
State -Washington County- An inventory of the Taxable Property of the Full
District in the Present Circulating Currency" dated 1781. One item I know
is on film in the Tennessee archives is a will dated Apr 12 1781 of a Mr
John Pablee or (Pavlee) the will was witnessed by a Jonathan Carrier and
Jonathan Carrier helped step off a subdivision of the land. I now think
this Jonathan is the younger brother of W. John Jr. since I have come
across
some web sites where Henry Carrier , Jonathan's son who lived in Kentucky
may have been born in North Carolina (East Tennessee) the only reference I
have found that Jonathan may have been in Tennessee before going to
Kentucky. This will is in Will Book # 1, Page 4 of Washington County,
Tennessee. The will was in poor condition when it was filmed but I
remember
seeing a quotation from this will in a published history, because of a
reference in the history to two cows " Caney and Dunce" but after reading
the will I think the cows names were "Chewy and Dunce" In any case the
will is beautifully worded and I hope to be able to read the original
document because many passages are unclear on film and the copy the
Courthouse lets the public read and copy .is also unclear. Tom Carrier----
Thanks, Tom, for this info. I'm a descendant of the Kentucky Carriers, so
have a little bit of stuff on them. I'll have to look it up, though, as my
memory is less than perfect! I also have some books from the Laurel Co.
Historical Society. Will look through them and post anything I find.

Janet
