Sorry Neal - it is the "Daughters" of the AR - However the men have a very
fine organization of their own called the Sons of the American Revolution
(SAR). Contact your local chapter. I am liaison here and am happy to
assist men applicants to SAR. (They even presented me with a medal and a
ribbon to wear. Unlike DAR - the SAR can use info from DAR apps and even
attach them as proof. Talk about unfair - once again the women have to do
all the work !! :-)
Happy Thanksgiving

Hi Linda,
Well it looks like the DAR has come in to the 21'st century by
allowing electronic searching. :-)
Does a "prospective member" have to be a female? If so, I'll be
contacting the ACLU.
From the searches I've done on this site it only gives basic info
on
the patriot and privatizes any potential living descendants.

Hi Neal and All
I am a member of the DAR (Daughters of the American Revolution) having
served as a Chapter Historian, a Registrar, a Regent (president) and two
State Chairmanships.
So far the info from our applications has been kept private - available to
members only and new applicants can get a copy of an applicant's papers on
a
specific patriot ancestor through a DAR chapter via its Registrar if you
are
a prospective member. I believe the cost is $10.00.
We had a Carrier relative working in the genealogy department of DAR and
that individual worked hard to develop info on the Carrier line. His last
name is not Carrier and I will not invaid his privacy by giving away his
identity. I have qualified five Carrier relatives who were patriots in the
Rev. War. I have two more under way - one is a John Carrier.
