Hello again,
The message with the photo attachment apparently did not come through as
expected. I am resending the text below; Neal, is it possible to attach a JPG
photo to a list posting? I'll try again if it is.
Dave
Hello Everyone,
I have been searching (without success) for photographs of my Carrier
ancestors (of Virginia origin). Since the siblings would divide the photos
when their parents would pass on, many of us don¹t have copies of these photos
that may still exist. I thought it would be a good idea for us to upload any
of these photos we have in order to share with other family members. Sounds
good, huh?
The photo I have uploaded is of John Henderson Carrier (12/17/1834-12/6/1909),
son of William H. Carrier (1807-aft.1871) and grandson of Thomas Carrier (abt.
1774-1860). John was born in Kentucky, and lived most of his life in the
London portion of Laurel County. He rose to prominence and was elected to
the position of Jailer. He was my Great Grandfather.
I believe photography was invented in the mid 1800¹s. There is a good chance
that there are photos somewhere of my Thomas and William H. Carriers, since
they died in 1860 and aft. 1871 respectively. I d love to learn that a list
member has a photo of one (or both!) of these Carriers.
I also have a handwritten letter from William H. Carrier to John Henderson
Carrier, dated in 1871. I have shared this letter with other descendants of
William H., and would be happy to upload a copy if there is interest.
Time to start going through those old photos, wherever they are!
Health and happiness to all,
Dave Carrier
Does anyone have any Connecticut Carrier Photos?
