The puritans of this era didn't worship a dead body like we do today.
When you died, they removed your clothes ( to valuable to bury), dug a
hole and tossed you in it with no ceremony, usually on the same day.
Seems like I read somewhere that when Martha was hung, the bodies were
placed in a nearby ravine and the Reverends family came back and removed
his for later burial.
