Good afternoon Nita,
By way of introduction, my name is G. T. Kellogg, Jr. I live in Stafford, Texas, a suburb
of Houston.
I read with interest your message shown below in that I have a more than passing interest
in the Carrier surname in Pennsylvania.
My g-g-grandmother was Elizabeth Ann (Betsey) Carrier (b. prob. Ohio, d. bef. 1870, prob.
Pennsylvania). She married Isaac Kellogg (Jr.)., date and location unknown, prob.
Pennsylvania. I have not been able to determine a date of location (prob. Crawford
County) of their marriage in that the state Pennsylvania did not require that document
during the time period in which they lived. Based on the date of birth of their first
child, the marriage probably occurred bet. 1839 -1841. I base Betsey's date of death
on the 1870 Census for Crawford County in that Isaac (Jr.) is recorded along with an
apparent second wife, Calistra, who is shown as "keeping house."
Information gleaned from research on my g-g-grandfather, Isaac and birth information on
their children indicates residency in Crawford County, Pennsylvania. My g-grandfather,
Henry Wescott Kellogg was born there and later removed first to Nebraska before finally
settling in Sioux County, Iowa.
My g-g-grandmother's parents were David Carrier (b. 1800, Pennsylvania, d. bet.
1840-1850, Meigs County, Ohio) and Mary Elizabeth Betsey Jacobs (b. 1800, Pennsylvania,
d. 1870, Meigs County, Ohio).
David Carrier's parents were Amariah Carrier (b. July 17, 1754, Colchester, New London
County, Connecticut, d. 1847, Crawford County, Pennsylvania) and Honor Hoggins, (nfr).
I am most curious as to what part of Pennsylvania your Jacob Carrier, b. 1798, resided.
In nothing else, perhaps the information furnished will provide additional leads for your
research.
Best regards.
