I would like to post a query on the Carrier board.
I am searching for the parents of Clarissa Jane Carrier born about 1836 in New Hampshire.
Perhaps her mother was Christina. On the 1850 Merrimac county, town of Concord, NH census
Christina is listed as Christina Scales age 35 below John Scales age 72. That's quite
a spread in age for a husband and wife but possible. Three Scales children are listed
next then Clarrissa J. Carrier, age 14. She could be a servant living with that family or
Christina's daughter by a previous marriage. Clarissa married Benjamin Franklin
Moulton in about 1856 and probably died before the Civil War.
A Daniel Carrier married Clarissa Smith 28 Nov 1805. A book titled "Carrier, Carryer
and Allied Lines" lists a Daniel S. Carrier, son of Daniel and Clarissa Smith born in
1813 who died in 1836, the year our Clarissa was born. The dates seem like a good match
but these are CT people! There were so many Carriers in New England and from the phone
book pages, there still are.
Does anyone researching the Carriers recognize these people or have anything to add?
Thanks a lot,
Rose Wills
