Hi Neal
By "pre-testing" I simply meant results from someone like you who had done
the test and found successful info.
Sort of an encouragement to get on the bandwagon!!

Linda,
We already have data from one of the W. John line who tested some time
ago. You don't really get any "pre-info" from DNA testing, only
post-info.
I've sent my sample in for testing last week and I think/hope more of
the Thomas/Martha line will be testing.
The more from all lines that test will provide more ideas looking for
a common ancestor for all the Carriers today.
The test is harmless, brush your cheek with a little brush 3 times and
mail it in.
The portion of DNA analyzed doesn't evaluate existing or possible
future medical conditions, only parts relevant to genealogy.
If you go to
http://www.worldfamilies.net/surnames/carrier and click
on "y-results" you'll see the two sets of data already analyzed.
Each by themselves doesn't tell us much but by comparing the numbers
you see that 3 of the first 12 don't match, meaning that they are not
related. As one of them claims to have French and Belgian ancestors
that's probably why.
