Subject: New Stuff on Andover GenWeb - interest for all of Essex
Hi everyone
For those of you who have folks in very early Andover, there are some new
things you will want to check out on the Andover site. Some of these names
came
up rather recently on the list, so I know the articles will be of interest.
I have added 5 more of those newspaper articles written by Charlotte Helen
Abbott.
Also under school heading you will find the class of 1927 from Andover High
School.
The articles are as follows. I would suggest again, that ANYONE with early
Andover ties read thru them. Tho the sketches are intended to outline one
family
in particular, you will always find mention of more than one family These
are great examples of that ! (There is even mention of the Hazeltines of
Haverhill in these - and families of Danvers)
article #140 details JOHN FARRINGTON and his family. Included in this
sketch
you will find Sarah Holton (of Salem), Joseph Abbott and family, Capt
Phillip
Farrington, Gilbert Tapley (of Danvers) Wood, Poor and Towne families, as
well
as Wardwells....only to name a few
article # 141 is a good story talking a great deal of land and property
locations in town of many families, including William BALLARD, Amos HOLT,
OSGOOD,
and a good deal about WHITTINGTON. - again, only to name a few.
article # 140 is also mostly about property. But it also gives a great deal
of attention to the ALLEN family - including MARTHA ALLEN CARRIER - for
those
looking into her also more branches of the Allen family
and articles # 130 and 131 are about the DANE family. John Dane and his
family back in England, a good article written about their life before
coming here.
Very entertaining
The second article covers the family of Rev. FRANCIS DANE and his sisters.
So
anyone with even a slim relation to the Dane family will want to check this
out. It includes JOHNSON, ABBOT, ALLEN, POOR, BAKER, CHANDLER, BALLARD.
etc.
Tho these stories may possibly contain the worlds longest paragraphs <g>, I
find them to be so useful and insightful of early Essex County and I think
the
sketches are well detailed, right down to what some of the folks looked
like.
A good find for anyone interested in more than names and dates !
