Dear Neal
Some small progress on the Anson Carrier line, maybe. I was looking at Augustine Wells
Carrier because he had a son Myron Carrier and the name repeatedly appears in the family
thereafter. That is not conclusive of anything but it might lend a direction. I was
looking at the name Adelbert and that was in a family in Sullivan Cy New York I will try
to see where the name comes into the Carrier family (if it is not just mere coincidence).
Additionally, it is too early to be of any significance to the Augustine Carrier branch
but the John Carrier who was in Floyd NY until 1830 and who has at times been thought
possibly to have been a forbear of the Anson branch had a middle initial L according to
deed docments (for which I have as yet seen only the briefest abstract). A John Lyman
Carrier died in Utica mid century. I think this John Lyman may be distantly connected to
the Sullivan NY branch of Carriers. I must admit I do not know yet if he is the same as
John L Carrier b. ca 1765 of Floyd ca 1800-1830 and listed as a land owner 1814.
Anyway, I realize this kind of Onomastic approach is near complete desperation but after
Elias' land records came back with virtually no usable information it is this and the
court records that remain at this point.
Best Regards
Grady
