Hi Neal,
I gave Jean some of the pics you are wondering about. Her gr-gr-grandfather Dennis
Carrier and my gr-gr grandfather David Andrew Carrier are brothers, so we have shared a
lot of info and pics.
Photo # 27 is Emma Carrier & Mabel Clara Carrier(my grandmother). They are the
daughters of Eldorado C. & Margaret Schoenlein Carrier. Eldorado & Margaret both
died within 2 years of each other and left 7 children. My grandmother was 9 yrs. old and
Emma was 4. Most of the children were put in the Children's Home in Pomeroy, OH. My
grandmother was placed in Margaret Hopkins home and worked for her until she married at
age 23. My grandmother kept in contact with her 5 brothers. Emma was adopted by a family
named Hartley in Mason, WV across the Ohio River and her name was changed to Lena Hartley.
My grandmother and Lena found each other in later years and wrote to each other, but
never saw each other until my grandmother was in the hospital with cancer in Columbus, Oh
in 1947. Grandmother passed away in 1947.
Photo # 28 is my grandmother's brothers, Raymond Carrier & William Carrier. I
got to meet my gr-uncle Raymond Carrier in the 1980's and took him to see the cemetery
where his parents are buried in Middleport, OH. He passed away in the late 1980's.
Photo # 29 is my grandmother's brothers, Eldo Carrier & Harry Carrier. They were
both in WWI. I do not know what medal is on Eldo. Eldo was the baby of the family.
My gr-grandmother Margaret Carrier was pregnant with him when her husband Eldorado passed
away in 1897. Harry came home from the war with the condition they call "shell
shocked". He moved out west and died on his homestead property.
Photo # 30 is a pic of a stone that my husband and I made back in the 70's. We have
since bought a new one and replaced it for Eldorado & Margaret Carrier. That is my
son Michael and my mother Eileen Lena Brooks Brewer taken in the 1970's after we had
put the homemade stone on the graves.
The only child that I don't have a picture of is David Henry Carrier. He was Eldorado
& Margaret's oldest child and went to live with Margaret's parents. Hope all
of this info helps.
Jerri Huston
