Located in the Carrier Cemetery in Carter Co between Johnson City and
Elizabethton Tn
at the cross roads section of Dave Buck Road. Mr Orville Fields in his book the

Carrier was the first burial in this cemetery. I recall reading somewhere there was
a
cholera epidemic in this area about 1909. This might account for the deaths in this
family group around that time. I have had these people in my notes for sometime
but
haven't been able to connect them to any Carrier lineage in East Tenn. I would
appreciate any info you have especially on William H.'s parents. The only other
William H. I have in my records tied to the East Tennessee Carriers was William
H.(b
1807) son of Thomas T. and Nancy Hatcher Carrier who married Margaret Gourley
in
Carter Co, and supposedly followed his parents to Laurel Co Kentucky. Since
Laurel Co
Kentucky isn't that far from Hawkins Co TN it is possible they returned and this
William H. is the son of William H. and Margaret. The Carrier cemetery in Carter
Co
is a stones throw to the Washington Co Tn county line. Therefore these people
could
have lived in Washington County or Carter County. The closest medical facilities
are
in Washington County so if they died in a hospital it would have likely been in
Johnson City. I currently live about 5 minutes away from this cemetery. When I
discovered a Carrier cemetry there I was surprised because the Carriers during
that
period tended to all be in Sullivan County or that area of Carter County adjacent to
Sullivan County. If you have any info to share on this family I would appreciate it,
it might help me unravel one more thread in the rat's nest of Sullivan County
Carrier's. If you researchers of the Thomas and Nancy Hatcher Carrier line have any
info on what happened to William H. Chime in I've followed some of your work and it
is pretty good. P.S. All You Carrier researchers out there I've included all the
Carriers buried in this small cemetery.
