Lynn, since you and I share a host of relatives, thought I would let you
know, as well as the list, about a recent find.
In going through the research of my aunt, who started me on this journey back
in 1979, I found some notes from her dated February 2, 1981 (20 yrs. ago)! A
cousin of ours had found a copy of the will of Jonathan Carrier (b. 1775) at
the Bristol, TN Public Library and a letter from a researcher named Robert
Nave of Houston, TX who reputedly had been tracing the Carriers for 30 years!
He says that Jonathan is the son of Jonathan & Abigail Carrier, and that
Thomas (b. 1808) was one of their children. Other children were: Phoebe,
Nancy (not Hatcher), Rebecca, Florence Amelia, John M., Sarah, Mary and
Jonathan (1823). Jonathan's (1775) will tracks these same folks. Also, he
had a brother named John that m. Susannah Jones, d/o Thomas & ? Ramsey Jones
of VA and a bro. named Thomas that married Nancy Hatcher and moved to KY.
I wonder if Robert Nave of Houston is still alive and still in the research
business? OR, if he had a successor who took over his research. There was
a large family of Naves in Carter and Sullivan Cos., TN when I grew up there.
Anybody out there know the answer?
