Mrs. Sallie Tharp Murphy, 81, Perryville Street (Harrodsburg, KY), died
at 2:50 o'clock Friday afternoon, June 17 (1966) at the Haggin Memorial
Hospital after a long illness.
Born October 28, 1884 in Marion county, she was a daughter of Charles
Thomas
(actually Samuel) and Laura Ewing Tharp. Her husband predeceased her
February
10, 1959. Mrs. Murphy was a member of a Presbyterian church at
Lebanon.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Arthur Harris, Harrodsburg; four sons,
Walter
Murphy and J.C. Murphy, Burgin; Earl Murphy, Louisville, and Gilbert
Murphy,
Mercer county; two sisters, Mrs. John Mills, Lebanon, and Mrs. Leroy
Dearing,
Bradfordsville; a brother Robert Tharp, Farmer's City, Ill.;
three half
brothers, Owen Tharp, Texas; Clint Tharp, Campbellsville, and Clem Tharp,
Elizabethtown; 17 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted at 2:30 o'clock Sunday afternoon, June
19 at the Alexander and Royalty funeral home by the Rev. Gilbert Shely
and the Rev. Wallace H. Carrier. Burial was in Spring Hill cemetery.
Grandsons
served as pallbearers.
