Mrs. FRANK P. CARRIER
Untimely Death of Young Wife and Mother Brings a Shock to Wide Circle of
Friends.
DAISY DORN CARRIER, wife of Frank P. CARRIER of this place, died last
Saturday
afternoon at the Cuba hospital, following the birth of a child, which also
died.
Mrs. CARRIER's maiden name was DAISY DORN HURLBUT, and she was born
July
31, 1876, at St. Petersburg, Pa. On September 12, 1895, she was married
to Mr. CARRIER at her father's home in Olean, the couple going directly
to her husband's farm in the town of Clarksville. Mr. CARRIER survives,
as do three children-- Ruth Winona, Marion and Howard. There also survive
her aged father in Iowa; three brothers -- Elmer of Wyoming, William of
North Dakota and Ross of Iowa -- with one sister, Mrs. Chester WAKEFILED
of Cuba.
Owing to ill health and the long distance, the father and brothers were
unable to attend the funeral, which was held at her late home in Cuba on
May 30. The Rev. Carder of the Baptist church officiated and Mr. MERRITT
of near Bolivar repeated the poem, "Crossing the Bar," it being a favorite
of Mrs. CARRIER. The Rebekahs held an impressive service at the grave in
Cuba cemetery.
The untimely death of this young wife and mother came as a great shock
to a wide circle of friends, all of whom have the deepest sympathy for
the bereaved husband and family.
